7th Annual Community Family Fun Day & Kites 4 Cancer Fundraiser
Once again we will be bringing our all-day family oriented event to Petrie Island on Sunday, July 28, 2013.
We have requested blues sky, lots of sunshine and just enough wind to have the kites take to the skies once again for the Annual Community Family Fun Day Picnic & Kites 4 Cancer Fundraiser.

Orleans: Your Summer Long Caribbean Experience
We have been busy!
After months of planning, on May 15th, 2013 Councilor Monette was able to publicly announced his vision of a collaborative effort for the 3 Caribbean centric festivals/events that make Petrie Island their destination of choice.
Below please see the official release by Councillor Monette and staff.
Here is a picture from the media launch:
Left Costume: Represents the Spanish influences that are dominant in many islands in the Caribbean and of course Latin American- Samba Princess.(Designed by Mr. Payne)
Right Costume: French/English inspiration that depicts the heat and the passion of the people, with the dominent colours being gold and orange but shaped like fire. Fire Strater ((Designed by Toni)

April is Daffodil month which has been designated to raise awareness around cancer. One of this organization's major community fundraising activities is geared towards supporting our regional cancer research body. So we encourage you to buy a daffodil and support the cause.

Are You Ready For De Road? 2K12
50 Never Look This Good ....
This Saturday, August 18th the streets of Orleans, Ontario will come alive once again with the sights and sounds of the moving theater known as Carnival. This year the Social Organization of Caribbean Cultural Activities (Club S.O.C.C.A) has partnered with the Trinidad and Tobago Association of Ottawa (T.T.A.O) to bring you a small sample of what the greatest show on earth looks like in their presentation themed "Trinbagold".
It is a particularly special occasion for both the Trinidadian & Tobagonian and the Jamaican diaspora communities as they are celebrating their 50th Independence Anniversaries. In honor of the 50th Anniversary of Independence "Trinbagold" will cover "from slavery to independence" which will feature costumes depicting the rich culture that denotes this twin island republic.
The tranquil Caribbean Seas will be represented by the blue costumes, the South Asian/ East Indian culture will be represented by traditional dress interrupted by its designer, the African influences will be showcased with a traditional black & white zebra print, as homage to 'Ole Mas' The Fancy Sailors will be out in full force and the Bacchanal section will cover various facets of the Mas culture in all its splendor.
If you have always wondered about what it would be like to join in this wonderful Caribbean experience called Carnival this would be an opportune time to join in the excitement. Simply contact Club S.O.C.C.A or the TTAO and express your desire to participate. Preparations are in the final stages to replicate the greatest show on earth right here in our National Capital Region.
